Situated on the Spanish border, this park straddles the districts of Braga, Viana do Castelo and Vila Real. It extends over more than 70 000 hectares of truly impressive natural beauty. Hills and plateaus dissected by rivers and waterfalls give this Park a wild beauty to which no one can be indifferent. The fauna and flora are abundant and complement the idyllic setting of the park.
Small villages scattered around the Park have withstood the ravages of time and still preserve ancient communal habits. Traditions and customs have been wisely preserved, which has also contributed to the Park’s environmental balance.
